Idiap Research Institute, based in Martigny (Valais/Switzerland), is a non-profit foundation specialized in the management of multimedia information and man-machine multimodal interactions. In 2011, Idiap had around one hundred employees, including 80 researchers (senior researchers, researchers, postdoctoral students and PhD students). The research done at Idiap is very well known worldwide.
The Association for Interactive Multimodal Information Management (AIM2) is concerned with the field of interactive systems that facilitate access to and management of multimedia and multimodal information and which enhance human-to-human communication. AIM2 is born from the IM2 members, which is one of the 28 Swiss National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCR) aiming at boosting research and development in several areas considered of strategic importance to the Swiss economy. inEvent is a 36 month FP7 project, comprising 358 person-months of effort, with a total budget of 4.369 million Euros (and a requested EC contribution of 2.928 million Euros). 92% of the budget (345 person-months) is devoted to RTD, 3.8% (6 person-months) to dissemination and technology transfer, and 4.3% (7 person-months) to management. The main goal of inEvent is to develop new means to structure, retrieve, and share large archives of networked, and dynamically changing, multimedia recordings, mainly consisting here of meetings, video-conferences, and lectures (www.inevent-project.eu).

Martigny (German Martinach, Latin Octodurum, sometimes also Octodure in French) is the capital of the French-speaking district of Martigny in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It lies at an elevation of 471 meters (1,545 ft), and its population is approximately 15000 inhabitants (Martignerains or "Octoduriens").
